About
Serena Thompson began riding horses at the age of 6 and has lived and breathed horses ever since. At the age of 16 she fell in love with a feral Thoroughbred filly named Phoenix. That filly is the namesake of this company. Serena and Phoenix have been partners in and out of the show ring for nearly a decade, and Serena brought Phoenix from untouched and feral to a consistent competitor in the world of eventing. On the side, Serena loves to rehab and bring along off-the-track Thoroughbreds, and currently has an OTTB in addition to Phoenix.
Serena went to school at Auburn University, where she earned a bachelor's in Animal Sciences with an Equine Option and graduated with a master's in Equine Nutrition and Forage Production, where she maintained a 4.0 GPA while working multiple outside jobs. Serena has a broad range of experience in the equestrian world, ranging from working at a variety of barns to working in equine veterinary medicine. During college, Serena had the opportunity to work as a student worker in the equine section of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Serena has continued her career in veterinary medicine, working as a veterinary assistant at her local equine hospital. Serena is also continuing her love for equine nutrition by founding Red Mare Equine Nutrition. |
